Chatham is uniquely located at the "elbow" of Cape Cod. It is know as "the first stop of the East Winds" and is the only Cape town that faces the Atlantic Ocean and Nantucket Sound...it also shares Pleasant Bay with Orleans. Chatham's coastline is everchanging due to two breaks in its barrier beach on the Atlantic side. Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge is also off of Chatham.
